Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Tour
The rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is comprised of the rapper Macklemore and producer/DJ Ryan Lewis. They are based out of Seattle, Washington. The pair first met in 2006 and became good friends before starting to work together in 2009. The duo is known for their well-crafted music, electrifying live shows and innovative music videos.
In 2000, Macklemore independently released an EP called Open Your Eyes and in 2005 released The Language of My World, a full-length album. These releases were followed by “The Unplanned Mixtape” in 2009. In 2009, Macklemore first teamed with Ryan Lewis. They created the EP VS EP. They followed up in 2010 with VS. Redux. The EP included “Otherside,” a critically acclaimed sample of a Red Hot Chili Peppers tune. VS. Redux reached the No. 7 spot on iTunes Hip-Hop chart.
In October 2012, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released The Heist, their first full-length album. Within hours of The Heist being released it shot into the No. 1 spot on iTunes Album chart. It debuted in the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s 200 chart. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their song “Same Love” off the album on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on October 30 and then made a second appearance on the show January 18, 2013 to perform “Thrift Shop.” “Thrift Shop” peaked in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. “The Heist” has sold more than 500,000 US copies to date.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have also had several successful tours. In February 2011 the duo launched a multi-city run starting in Pullman, Washington. In September 2011, they toured Ireland, the UK and North America. The duo had sell outs in 18 of 27 US venues, including Troubadour and Bowery Ballroom. In Fall 2012, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis toured in support of The Heist. The duo are scheduled to headline several music festivals in summer 2013.
