Frequently Asked Questions
What songs will James Taylor play in concert?
James Taylor released a cover album, simply titled Covers, in 2008, and has remained quiet since. This does not stop Taylor from touring the world and bringing out plenty of his original material for fans.
Taylor brings some new songs to life, and for fans, it has been over a decade with Taylor’s last original release, the stunning and brilliant October Road, in 2002. The new songs are called “Today, Today, Today” and “You and I,” and they reliably appear on all setlists.
It is also fair to say that James Taylor is in a routine with his sets, hardly changing them at all from one evening to the next. He has a huge setlist, but a few notable inclusions are “Fire and Rain” as well as the endearing opener, “Something in the Way She Moves.”
Unlike many artists with decade-spanning careers, his recent material received critical acclaim. He performs material from October Road to plenty of fan appreciation and adoration, including “Caroline I See You.” He sometimes performs “Another Day” and “Little More Time With You” from 1997’s Hourglass.

James Taylor is well known for his live covers; what does he play this time out?
James Taylor has about six covers he brings out for the evening, which is a pretty large portion of his setlist. Each cover choice is rather obtuse and outside the traditional genre of folk rock the artist is known for. He shows appreciation to good old fashioned rock and roll with Buddy Holly’s “Everyday,” then nods to close friend Carole King with his own version of her masterful “You’ve Got a Friend.”
Soul legend Marvin Gaye is reanimated through the voice of James Taylor in “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” which appears towards the end of the setlist.
How long is a James Taylor Concert?
Despite his age, James Taylor has a wealth of material to select from and he does it every night out with a setlist about two hours long.
How do I get access to presale tickets for James Taylor’s tour?
James Taylor makes official tour announcements on his personal website accompanied by presale ticket access links.
You can also jump right into it through the American Express Entertainment platform. This is exclusive to American Express card holders, and the entire tour is being covered.
Another method is Ticket Crusader, who offers public presale passwords for entire tours. They use a lot of the same information as CitiNational, yet CitNational requires an account with them to gain access. Both are functional, it just depends on your access to CitiBank.
Who is James Taylor’s publicist and press contact?
James Taylor is under the management of Macklam Feldman Management. His main contact here is January Muckle, and can be reached at muckle@slfa.com. This company partners with Gorfaine/Schwarts Media Agency, and you can reach them by phone at 818-260-8500.
Show Reviews
“You probably know the answer to that. Mr. Taylor’s honey voice has been the gold standard of folk-rock since the early ’70s and not only is it every bit as warm and gentle, at 64, he continues to master his control of it. You could hear that a few songs in when he held one of the grittier notes along “Country Road.” – Scott Mervis of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
“I have a hypothesis. It goes that there could be a simple solution to many of the world’s problems. If we could gather all world leaders together at a James Taylor concert surely world peace would be mere moments away. Such seems to be the power of his voice, his songs, and his performance. More than just with music, he fills the room with love; a love for these songs, a love for entertaining, a love for his fans, and a love for life.” – Liv Carter of the Urban Country News
“Taylor, who’s had his share of struggles with depression and substance abuse, has channelled these experiences into his music, but doesn’t seem to dwell on them too much. Warm and friendly, with an acerbic wit, Taylor joked with the audience throughout the evening. “They tell me that Canadians are polite,” he said. “But they clearly weren’t back in Vancouver the other night.” – Manori Ravindran of the National Post
